Mexico VIN check and lookup
Buying a car from Mexico or one that was registered there? Check its VIN: accidents, mileage readings, theft and registration records from Mexico and other countries.
Where the VIN is
In Mexico the VIN is printed on the tarjeta de circulación and the factura. On the car it is at the bottom of the windshield and on the door pillar; all copies must match.
REPUVE
The public vehicle registry REPUVE shows for free whether a vehicle is reported stolen, and its registration data.
US salvage cars
Cars sold at US insurance auctions often end up south of the border. Check for a salvage or flood title before you buy.
Used cars and vehicle records in Mexico
Mexico builds more than three million vehicles a year, most of them for the US. At the same time many used cars come in from the US, legally or as "autos chocolate" (brought in without regularization), so their earlier history is in US records: salvage and flood titles, auctions and US odometer readings.
