Romania VIN check and lookup
Buying a car from Romania or one that was registered there? Check its VIN: accidents, mileage readings, theft and registration records from Romania and other countries.
Where the VIN is
In Romania the VIN is printed on the certificat de înmatriculare (talon), field E. On the car it is at the bottom of the windshield and on the door pillar; all copies must match.
Mileage before import
Odometers are often wound back before the first Romanian registration. Compare the RAR readings with the foreign service and inspection readings in a report.
The talon and the C.I.V.
The VIN is in field E of the certificat de înmatriculare (talon) and on the C.I.V. (cartea de identitate a vehiculului); both must match the car.
Used cars and vehicle records in Romania
Most used cars sold in Romania are imported, mainly from Germany, Italy and France, and registered in Romania for the first time years after they were built. The RAR check (Registrul Auto Român) shows the mileage recorded at Romanian periodic inspections (ITP), not the years abroad.
