Switzerland VIN check and lookup
Buying a car from Switzerland or one that was registered there? Check its VIN: accidents, mileage readings, theft and registration records from Switzerland and other countries.
Where the VIN is
In Switzerland the VIN is printed on the Fahrzeugausweis (vehicle registration card), field 23. On the car it is at the bottom of the windshield and on the door pillar; all copies must match.
MFK
The cantonal inspection (MFK) records the mileage, but Swiss records are not public by VIN; a cross-border history fills the gap.
Imported cars
Damage and mileage recorded in one country do not show on the papers of the next. A report that searches several countries at once closes that gap.
Used cars and vehicle records in Switzerland
Switzerland is outside the EU, and Swiss used cars are popular exports to the EU. Besides the VIN, the Fahrzeugausweis carries the Stammnummer, the Swiss master number of the vehicle.
